When we read about the nuclear arsenal on the internet, we probably read about US or Russia or France etc. We hardly read about India being a powerful nation with state of the art weapons. But that shouldn’t be the reason to take it’s weaponry so lightly.

The INS Chakra is a Russian, nuclear-propelled, hunter-killer submarine. It is also called Nerpa. The other submarines that India has need to surface often to recharge the batteries. But not this one. This INS Chakra can stay under water for as long as it wants.

Being one of the quietest nuclear submarines in the world, it can go as deep as 600 metres and run at over 30 knots, which is twice the speed of our conventional submarines. Chakra will be used to hunt and kill enemy ships and submarines. Beware!

The only other countries to have nuclear-powered submarines are the US, Russia, the UK, France and China.

Agni V has the most advanced guidance system and can carry a nuclear warhead. Oh, and by the way, it travels at an earth-shattering speed of Mach 24. Again, that’s 24 times the speed of sound.

Brahmos is deadly. Brahmos is the fastest cruise missile known to man right now, travelling at a speed close to Mach 3. It is the world’s most advanced supersonic cruise missile that is very accurate and very deadly.

The Prithvi Air Defence or PAD is an anti-ballistic missile designed to intercept and destroy incoming ballistic missiles outside the atmosphere. It has the capability of engaging 300-2000 km class of ballistic missiles at a speed of Mach 5. Or in simple words, it can engage enemy missiles at five times the speed of sound.

The Advanced Air Defence or AAD is an anti-ballistic missile designed to intercept and destroy incoming ballistic missiles inside the atmosphere. It has the capability of engaging 15 – 150 km class of ballistic missiles at a speed of Mach 4.5. 4.5 times the speed of sound.

Pinaka is a multi-barrel rocket launcher developed by DRDO. The system has a maximum range of 40 km for Mark-I and 65 km for Mark-II,[4] and can fire a salvo of 12 HE rockets in 44 seconds, neutralising a target area of 3.9 km. Pinaka were used in the Kargil War to neutralise enemy activities.
