Shengsi Archipelago in China is a popular tourist destination for its subtropical climate. It’s made up of 400 islands across Yangtze River, but only 18 are habitable. One of those islands was a fishing village for so many years.

Nobody knows what happened, but people abandoned this village. Slowly nature took over this village, reclaimed what was once part of it and restored it to its splendor. Photographer Zhou Jie, who goes by the name Jane Green online, took some haunting pictures of an abandoned fishing village on one of the islands.

This makes it look like the buildings have sprung up from the Earth.
